Bandwagon fans
Opening thoughts: I was flipping around when I saw "Newlyweds" on MTV with Nick and Jessica at the Orange Bowl. Lachey is a big USC fan, I suppose, as he rooted the Trojans on to the national championship. But, at the beginning of the game, he commented on why he gets so nervous before USC games. Why??? YOU HAVE NO AFFILIATION WITH THE SCHOOL, YOU'RE JUST A FAN!!!! Lachey is from Cincinnati if you didn't already know and actually was a Miami student.
The metrics test went well until the last question, so we'll see what happens. Just as I finish my grading, I have more grading and studying to do this weekend. This last week until spring break can't go fast enough.
Time for hoops:
- Louisville 94, Charlotte 82. Louisville clinched the CUSA regular season title with the win, putting 4 in double figures. Despite 28 from Brendan Plavich, who made 7 3s, some of them from across the Ohio River, Louisville got 33 from Larry O'Bannon (26 in the 1st half) and 27 from Taequan Dean (not bad for a guy with mono). The Cards seem to be hitting their stride again, as they did in midseason. Charlotte is a good team, but most likely won't beat anyone that's better than them. Charlotte had 13 3s, 11 2s, not good.
- Washington St. 59, Stanford 48. Bad, bad, bad, bad loss for Stanford, dropping them to 10-7 in the Pac 10, 16-11 overall, putting them back on the bubble. Even more bad news for Stanford, Washington is coming to town on the heels of scoring 106 in Berkeley.
- UCLA 69, Oregon St. 61. The Bruins are in the heat of the NCAA hunt, building off their victory at Notre Dame. Beat Oregon, win a game in the Pac 10 tourney, and UCLA is in I think.
- Atlantic Sun Tournament. Top seed Gardner-Webb survived a scare, holding off 8 seed Troy 64-62 to advance. The top 4 teams have all advanced to tomorrow's semifinals.
- Big South Tournament. It will be Charleston Southern vs. Winthrop in the finals on Saturday. Charleston Southern beat High Point by 3, while Winthrop disposed of Birmingham Southern by 14. Charleston Southern is trying to become the first Cinderella of the year, as they take a record of 13-16 into the game against top seed Winthrop, who is 26-5.
- Northeast Conference Tournament. Top seed Monmouth needed a dunk in the last second to avoid the upset against 8 seed Central Conn. St. The only 1st round upset goes to Wagner, who beat Robert Morris (6 beating 3), 68-65.
- Southern Conference Tournament. In a mild upset, Appalachian St. knocked off College of Charleston to move into the semifinals. Top seed Davidson easily beat Elon and is still unbeaten in conference play.
Championship Week starts Saturday!!!!!
